ALC and Twin Loup Seasons Come to an End in State Quarterfinals

The Arcadia/Loup City Rebels saw its football season come to an end in the quarterfinals of the Class D1 state playoffs Tuesday evening in Benkelman. Dundy County Stratton scored 28 unanswered points in the second half to overcome a 10 point halftime deficit and defeat Arcadia/Loup City 42-30. DCS quarterback Quade Myers ran for 3 touchdowns and ran for 1 in the second half to help lead the comeback effort. Jaden Jones threw two touchdown passes in the first half including a 36 yard toss to Jadyn Scott with 8 seconds remaining in the second quarter to put the Rebels up 24-14 at the half but ALC would not score again until 9 seconds left in the game when Jones scored on a 9 yard touchdown run. The Rebels conclude the year at 9-2 overall. DCS advances to the state semifinals where they will play Burwell. The Longhorns continued their impressive playoff run by rolling over the west bracket’s top seed Cambridge 71-48. In the east bracket quarterfinals, Cross County defeated Tri County 36-12 and Osceola-High Plains defeated Howells-Dodge 28-14.

The Twin Loup Wolves went on the road and battled tough against Pleasanton in the D2 quarterfinals but came up short falling to the Bulldogs 34-24. Twin Loup, who started the season 1-4, won their final 3 regular season games and their first two playoff games to end the season at 6-5 overall. Pleasanton advances to the Class D2 semifinals where they will play Overton who knocked off Central Valley 22-14. In the east bracket quarterfinals, Falls City Sacred Heart shutout Bloomfield 36-0 and Humphrey St. Francis defeated Plainview 64-20.

The D1 and D2 semifinals will be played Monday (11/18)
