NDOT– Weather Permitting, work will begin April 1 on US-83, according to the Nebraska Department of Transportation.
Simon Contractors Inc., of Cheyenne Wyoming, has the $3,877,000 contract. The Jeffers Street Viaduct is one of the North Platte Area Bridges associated with the project. Work includes bridge deck repair, expansion device replacement, epoxy polymer overlay on sidewalk, and asphalt overlay on the bridge.
For the initial phase, traffic will be shifted to one-lane operation in each direction, utilizing the south-bound lanes with an 11-foot width restriction. Access to 6th Street and 7th Street will be closed to US-83/Jeffers Street during construction. Pedestrian traffic will be maintained. Normal traffic will resume for NebraskaLand Days celebration from June 16 to June 26.
Anticipated completion is October 2021.
