Wind-Fueled Fire Destroys Madison Home

MADISON - A Madison house is destroyed following a Monday afternoon fire.

Madison Fire and Rescue was called to the house fire at 703 S. Main Street around noon. Heavy smoke could be seen blowing from the roof of the building, which later turned into flames, fanned by winds blowing 25 to 35 miles per hour.

Fire crews from Norfolk and Humphrey were called in via mutual aid to battle the blaze. Firefighters had to deal with bitter wind chills as low as minus 21.

There was no word at the scene as to what caused the fire, or if anyone was home at the time.
