Will Democrats’ Latest Move Lure Krist?

Omaha, NE—Is the Nebraska Democratic Party up to more than meets the eye? Badly outnumbered by 217,000 Republican voters, Democrats are allowing independents to cast their ballots in future Democratic primaries starting with the May 15 primary. State Chair Jane Kleeb says Democrats see the move as a way to form a winning coalition to break up what she calls the "current one-Party rule" in Nebraska. Right now 48 percent of Nebraska voters are registered Republicans compared to 30 percent Democrats, 21 percent independents and 1 percent Libertarians.
