Video Special: Key Nebraska Petition Law Overturned

Omaha, NE.—Independent candidates in Nebraska just got some good news. A federal judge has ruled that a 2016 law forcing independents, trying to make the statewide November ballot, to come up with 120,000 petition signatures is unconstitutional. The ruling puts at least one race up in the air, the race for State Treasurer— where until the ruling State Sen. John Murante was a shoe-in. By the way it was Murante who pushed the 120,000 signature law through. News Channel Nebraska goes inside the 2016 legislation (see our video above). We've asked Murante to comment but so far there's been no comment.
