USDA Awards Grants to Five Rural Hospitals

LINCOLN - A federal grant aims to improve the quality of life in rural Nebraska. The US Department of Agriculture is investing more than 11 million dollars into five community service facilities. Rural Development official Ann Hazlett says that the USDA is committed to being a strong partner to local leaders in building healthy, prosperous futures for their communities. Among the five recipients is the Henderson Health Care Service group, who is being awarded a five million dollar loan to construct a 40-bed, long term care facility. The building will include 36 private rooms and two semi-private rooms, among many other improvements. USDA officials say that an applicant must be in a rural area with a population of 20-thousand people or less.
