United Way Campaign Spotlights Donors’ Impact

NORFOLK - Organizers of the Norfolk Area United Way campaign are putting a face on where donations go. The campaign held a fundraising update luncheon Wednesday afternoon. Among the speakers was Kelli Wacker of the Northeast Nebraska Child Advocacy Center. The non-profit provides services to victims of child abuse over a 24-county area in northeast and north central Nebraska. Wacker says the funding provided by the United Way is invaluable. “When families come through out door, they are going through something fairly traumatic already,” said Wacker. “We don’t want to burden them any further with any type of financial expense. Because of our United Way funding we’re able to provide all of our services free of charge.” United Way officials announced they’ve raised over $31,000 over the last two weeks, bringing their fundraising total so far to over $145,000.
