Two-Vehicle Accident Sends Three To The Hospital On January 23

HWY 183— A two-vehicle accident near Sargent on Saturday, January 23 sent three individuals to the hospitals with injuries.

According to the accident report from the Custer County Sheriff’s Office, Gregory Fenske, 59 of Sargent was driving east on Road 805 in his 2000 GMC Sierra pickup when he failed to stop at the stop and crashed into a 2019 Ford Van driven by Goran Vidovic, 25 of Mentor, Ohio, who was driving north on Highway 183 about ten miles south of Sargent.

Following the impact, the pickup traveled 55 feet before coming to a stop, while the van traveled just short of 200 feet into the ditch before coming to rest. A female passenger in the van stated that she was lying down on the bed area of the van at the time of the crash and was injured after she landed on items in the cargo area of the van.

According to the report, Fenske was transported to Melham Medical Center by Sargent Ambulance Service with suspected serious injuries. Fenske was not wearing a seatbelt and airbags were not deployed in the vehicle.

Vidovic was also transported to Melham Medical Center by Comstock Rescue Squad with possible injuries. Vidovic was wearing a seatbelt and the airbags around him deployed.

The passenger in the van Anjelica Ciresi, 29 of Thompson, Ohio, was taken to Melham Medical Center by Ansley Volunteer Fire and Rescue with suspected serious injuries. Ciresi was in the bed area of the van at the time of the crash and was not wearing a seatbelt.

Both vehicles were totaled in the crash and a $50 reflector post was also damaged.

A citation is listed as pending for Fenske for ‘Failure to Yield.’
