Two Vehicle Accident On The Edge Of Broken Bow Stops Traffic

First responders were on the scene quickly at an accident that occurred west of Trotters Truck Stop on the west edge of Broken Bow on Friday afternoon. The two vehicles that took the most damage included a red Chevy SUV and a white Dodge pickup.

The red Chevy had been traveling west on Highway 2 before slowing or coming to a stop. The white Dodge pickup, hauling two round bales on the bed of the pickup, approached the Chevy and slammed on the brakes, but was unable to stop in time.

The impact caused the pickup to crash into the back of the SUV, smashing in the back of the SUV with the bumper becoming lodged in the pickup’s grille guard. The force of the impact allowed the bumper to be ripped from the back of the SUV and remain lodged in the grille of the Dodge Pickup as both vehicles pulled off to the side of the road.

Broken Bow Fire and Rescue transported the driver and passenger of the red SUV to Jennie M. Melham Memorial Medical Center. The extent of their injuries are unknown.

The Broken Bow Police Department, Custer County Sheriff’s Office, and the Nebraska State Patrol responded to help with traffic control and the investigation of the accident.
