Tecumseh Inmate Dies From Apparent Suicide

TECUMSEH -- A 29-year-old inmate at the Tecumseh State Correctional Institution died Saturday at the Johnson County Hospital.

The corrections department says Adrian Eagle Elk was found unresponsive in his cell at 7 a.m. from an apparent suicide attempt. He was pronounced dead within the hour.

Eagle Elk was serving a sentence of 24 to 39 years for charges in Scottsbluff County.

He was convicted of one count first degree assault, three counts second degree assault, one count escape using force/deadly weapon and one count third degree assault.

His sentence began in 2006 and he became eligible for parole in March. His release date was in 2025.
