NEBRASKA CITY - It's been so long since Nebraska City High School has held a Homecoming Parade that current principal Brian Hoover, who began in his position in 1999, had no idea the school ever had one.
Thanks to the students approaching school officials about rejuvenating the tradition, NCHS will host their first Homecoming Parade in recent memory on Friday, Sept. 28 at 2 p.m. in downtown Nebraska City.
Hoover says their kids are feeding off the community's support and it has created a nice atmosphere during school days and at activity events.

"With the help of the athletic boosters and several key members of the community, we presented to the city council. The city council approved it. It's just another way to connect with the community, because the community has been absolutely outstanding this year in supporting, not only football, but all of our sports and activities so far."
The parade, taking place prior to the football team's Homecoming game vs. Auburn at Pioneer Field ( 7 p.m. on B103), will travel down Central Ave. from 14th to 6th streets.
To make the parade happen, the school is looking for trailers to use for floats and adult volunteers to drive floats and the Homecoming candidates along the route.
