Stanton Teen to be Sentenced Twice in One Week for Weapons Violations

STANTON - One handgun will result in two different court sentences for a Stanton teen. Eighteen-year old Gage Kment pleaded guilty Monday to a misdemeanor weapons possession charge in Stanton County District Court. Kment was pulled over in November, where authorities say a search of his vehicle turned up a semi-automatic pistol. Kment was too young at the time to be in possession of such a weapon. Authorities in Cuming County say that same weapon was used in a road rage incident just a few days prior. Authorities say the victim told police that they tried to pass a car that Kment was driving near Beemer. Authorities say Kment began driving aggressively, and at one point slowed down in front of the other vehicle, rolled down his window and fired his gun. Kment pleaded guilty to a felony weapon charge related to that incident last week. Kment's Stanton County conviction carries a sentence of up to a year in jail. He'll be sentenced in Stanton on October 2nd. Three days later, he'll be sentenced in West Point, where he could face up to an additional 50 years in prison.
