COLUMBUS - Grant Stadler has only pole vaulted for one year, but college coaches knew he had something special.
The Columbus High standout will be heading to the University of Concordia in Seward, after signing his letter of intent to compete for the track team on Thursday.
Stadler says, "I'm just really excited about it, it's something I've really worked hard for, and it's been a goal of mine to play sports in college, and just happy to finally fulfill it."
Stadler picked up Pole Vault for the first time during the 2017 season, but Head Boys Track Coach Patrick Clark says it's clear that Stadler has a knack for the event. Concordia coaches are excited about adding Stadler to the roster, and look forward to him being an impact player in the Conference.
"We're also very proud of him, because of his work ethic and what he's done to get to this point, and as you all know, he's as good of a guys as you'll meet," says Clark.
Stadler says he plans on studying to become a Social Studies teacher and will join his sister Paige, who is currently attending Concordia. Stadler will compete for Columbus High this spring, before joining the Bulldog's roster.
