Shelby Man Given 60 Days in Jail, 3 Years of Probation for 2 Drunk-Driving Related Convictions

DAVID CITY, Neb. - A Shelby man was given jail-time and a long probation stint for two felony charges related to drunk driving. 40-year-old Troy Engle was given 60 days in jail and 36 months probation after being convicted of his 3rd DUI and driving drunk without a required interlock device. Court records say Engel was arrested after fleeing from a Butler County Sheriff traffic stop in March. He was eventually caught and arrested inside a residence. Engel, who received two DUI’s prior to the March incident, was required to be using ignition interlock in his truck. He was unable to complete a breath test at the jail, but blood tests showed he blew over 0.15, nearly twice the legal limit. He was charged with driving while revoked, obstructing police and resisting arrest, but those charges were dropped in a plea deal. Engel began his jail sentence on Tuesday and will be credited with two days already served.
