Scammers Posing as Sheriff’s Office

COLUMBUS - Authorities are reporting a rise in scammers posing as the sheriff's office and threatening residents. The Platte Count Sheriff's Office says they have received several reports of an ongoing scam, where a caller pretends to be the sheriff's office and threatens residents with a warrant if they don't pay money. The sheriff's office says they do not conduct business this way, and says the number being used is 402-204-0751. Some scammers have the ability to mask their caller I.D. to say it is coming from a local authority.
