Rock Creek Station to Explore Trail Life From 150 Years Ago

ROCK CREEK - You have a chance to travel back in time this weekend and learn some of the area's history. Rock Creek Station is celebrating the statehood of Nebraska by hosting another Living History Weekend. Several reenactors will bring back what life was like on the trails through Nebraska 150 years ago. According to Nebraska Game and Parks, Rock Creek Station was a hub for western travelers through the Pony Express, Oregon and California Trails. A lot was changing in Nebraska in 1867, including transportation. Trail traffic slowed in this area due to the railroad. Programs run from 9:00 a.m. until 5:00 p.m. on Saturday, and 9:00 a.m. until 2:00 p.m. on Sunday. Visitors will have the opportunity to witness multiple demonstrations including a look at how blacksmithing and cooking was done during that time period. An 1860’s store and post office will also operate as if the times had never changed.
