As of Wednesday morning, the village of Anselmo is only $2,500 away from the $10,400 needed for new playground equipment.

Nebraska State Bank and Trust Company donated $1,480 to the Anselmo Board on September 20. Every Friday, bank employees have the opportunity to wear jeans in exchange for a $5 donation to be given to a local charity. In July and August, funds totaled $740 before the bank matched its employees giving.

Anselmo board members began fundraising in June of 2016 and were honored with an early donation of $250, also from Nebraska State Bank.

Chairperson Scott Stupka said the board appreciates the generous donation for the new project, especially because the current equipment is nearly 20 years old and falling apart.

Anselmo Village Clerk/Treasurer Robin Christen said the new equipment will go near the community building-behind the library. The park in that area was established with memorial money in honor of Pauline Scott’s family (former owners of the grocery store.) Now it is time to give the park an upgrade with a new playground.

Christen said the playground will be utilized by children and family in the town, Bible school students, and during the Big Sky Jubilee.

“Thank you, I mean, we’ve had so many donors for this. I mean it’s taken a while to build it, but we couldn’t have done it without them,” Christen said.

Christen, Stupka, and Board member Maxine Taul are excited for the project and hope to install a new playground this fall.
