I was never held, touched, or played with for the first three years of my  life. The only time I was ever out of my crib was when my aunt came to  rock and hold the babies.

WAYNE -- Wayne Area Pro-Life will hold a breakfast on Saturday, Feb. 10 at St.  Mary's Catholic Church, located at 412 East Eighth Street in Wayne.  The event will be held in Holy Family Hall, located in the basement of  the church, beginning at 8:45 a.m. Everyone is welcome to attend. The theme for this year's event is "How do we live pro-life." The featured speaker will be Michael Latawiec. His biography notes: "I'm from Romania. I was one of the 'iron crib' babies in 1988. I was  never held, touched, or played with for the first three years of my  life. The only time I was ever out of my crib was when my aunt came to  rock and hold the babies. Through the organization my mom and aunt  started, the Eastern European Children's Fund, I was able to be adopted  by my mom and brought home to my family in Minnesota. I grew up in a  family with 14 brothers and sisters, nine of whom were also adopted. Because I wasn't held, touched, or played with for the first three years of my life, I developed a developmental delay that made it hard to  do regular sports, as I wasn't included on normal sports teams. My mission in life is to bring joy and happiness to those who are broken." Latawiec won the Home Town Hero award from the Minnesota Vikings for  making others feel welcomed and loved. He is a national pro-life speaker. Additional speakers at this year's breakfast include Jack Dorcey, a  Wayne native, who is a sidewalk counselor, March for Life and recipient  of the Champion's for Life Award from the archdiocese of St.  Paul/Minneapolis and Marion Miner, Associate Director for Pro-Life and  Family Nebraska Catholic Conference.
