Portions of Old Middle School Could be Removed, Some Would be Re-used

COLUMBUS - Columbus Public School Board members approved a phased study for a re-use plan for the old CMS building on Monday, says meeting minutes. The re-use plan proposes removing the portions of the building that were built between 1924 and 1988. A portion of the building that was built in 1988, and the rest which was built in 1989 will be put back into use, says the meeting minutes. The portion being retained would be remodeled, and a new single story building would be built on the south side, where the older portion of the building is located, says meeting minutes. The building would be used for Platte County School District needs, says the agenda packet regarding the plan. RVW, Inc. will be performing the study of the proposed plan.
