UPDATE: Norfolk Police Investigating Downtown Stabbing

NORFOLK - Norfolk Police are looking for a man they say stabbed someone else in downtown Norfolk Wednesday evening. Norfolk Police Capt. Michael Bauer says it happened just after 9 p.m. to the north alley of the 100-block of Norfolk Avenue. Capt. Bauer says a 25-year old man had been stabbed and the suspect had fled the area on foot. The victim was taken to Faith Regional Health Services in Norfolk for treatment of what were called non-life-threatening injuries. The suspect was described as a Hispanic man in his early 20's wearing a grey sweater. Anyone with information on the stabbing is asked to contact Norfolk Police.   Previous story below:

NORFOLK — Law enforcement was on the scene of a possible stabbing in downtown Norfolk Wednesday night.

Authorities responded to a call of a possible stabbing at 116 West Norfolk Avenue around 9:15 PM.  Norfolk Police officers wrapped crime scene tape around the back parking lot of Leon’s Grocery Store and Restaurant.  Officers were seen searching the area with flashlights.

Officers on scene said they did not believe that a suspect was in custody.  One person was transported to Faith Regional Health Services by ambulance.

Norfolk Fire and Rescue, the Norfolk Police Division and the Madison County Sheriff’s Office all responded to the scene.  This is an ongoing investigation.
