Police Chief Asks Parents to Check Kids’ Phones Amidst Fairbury “Sexting” Investigation

FAIRBURY - A call from Fairbury Public Schools to the Fairbury Police Department on September 6th has generated an investigation into sexting. "The dispatch center received a call from them that they needed an officer to come up and talk to them about sexting and possibly sexual videos being posted," said Chief Chad Sprunk. Police Chief Chad Sprunk stated that there were 10-20 students involved in the current investigation. Both the Jefferson County Sheriff's Department and the Nebraska State Patrol have also been involved. "Parents need to talk to their kids about the ramifications of this. Go through their phones, go through their social media pages, and make sure nothing is on there. If there is something on there, they need to contact law enforcement before deleting anything. Every little part of that helps out our case." The investigation is still ongoing. Stay tuned to News Channel Nebraska for all the latest.
