Pink water in Peru harmless to residents

PERU, Neb. - The City of Peru's water was turned pink Thursday. Permanganate, used continually in the filtering process, got into the water because of a valve malfunction during a treatment on the filter in the city's water plant. If the water is over fed with the chemical compound, it will leave a pink color. The city's water is NOT harmful, but residents should refrain from washing laundry until officials can get the situation cleared, which may take two to three days. If you have any questions, please call the city clerk at 402-872-6685. Follow Hunter on Twitter: @TheBurnRadio
