Palmyra woman rents out prom dresses to flood victims free of charge

LINCOLN (KOLN) – It’s prom season but the recent historic flooding stopped many girls from being able to pick out their perfect dress this year.

Luckily, one local woman is using her business to make sure every girl feels beautiful on their special night.

Red, gold, navy and pink.

Whatever kind of prom dress you want, Barb Farup probably has it.

In her basement she runs ReDressed Formals, renting out prom dresses to girls for under $100.

Now, she’s doing something special.

“I’m offering free dresses to girls that were victims of the flood,” said Barb Farup.

After seeing the devastating flooding she decided she needed to help.

With over 500 dresses in 20 sizes, she says it’s the least she could do.

“If your dress was damaged in the flood or you were unable to go shopping because of the flood and life is just stressful, I encourage you to come and see me and I’ll take care of you,” said Farup.

One of her clients, Callie Goertz, was unable to get home to North Bend after a school trip.

After five days and a missed appointment, Barb rescheduled and told them it would be free.

“I was not expecting that by any means, it about made me cry. Barb has been very helpful,” said Sara Benzel.

All thanks to Barb, Callie was able to shine in a red dress on prom night.
Something she says she’ll never forget.

“I was ecstatic because the dress made me feel like so confident and everything. I almost cried. I think I cried on the inside,” said Callie Goertz.

Barb says even through the hard times, she hopes to make others like Callie feel beautiful on their special night.

“It’s just such a blessing. It’s so fun to be a part of something like that,” said Farup.

ReDressed Formals is only open by appointment.
