VERDIGRE, NE — The quest to get hay to hungry livestock in flood-ravaged Nebraska continues. Nebraska farmers got assistance over the weekend from a unique collection of donors. Farmers in central Pennsylvania’s Lycoming County came together to gather donated hay. Agriculture machinery maker New Holland donated and connected the P-A farmers to New Holland dealers in Nebraska, like Norfolk’s Dinkel Implment. Dinkel donated to the cause and helped unload the eight loads of hay in Verdigre. They left a JCB machine in Verdigre for the stockyards to use for the next couple weeks.
Dinkel worker Lucas Hoffman says farmers’ needs have shifted to a shortage of fencing supplies. He says a movement is already underway in Pennsylvania to donate another batch of equipment.
