One Dead In Accident South Of Ansley

ANSLEY— Emergency personnel, which included Ansley and Mason City Fire and Rescue, Custer County Sheriff, and the Nebraska State Patrol, responded to a two vehicle accident south of Ansley at the intersection of Highway 183 and Cumro Road at approximately 11:30 A.M.

KCNI/KBBN was on scene and observed two vehicles, a 4-door white pickup and a semi with a grain trailer, which was on its side, had made impact at some point with the pickup lodged under the trailer of the semi. The Jaws-of-Life were used to remove the driver and passenger of the pickup. The condition of the driver of the semi is unknown at this time. The driver of the pickup was taken south by ambulance on Highway 183 and the extent of his injuries are unknown. The passenger of the pickup was killed and removed from the scene by Govier Brothers Mortuary.

Early indications are the pickup crashed into the side of the semi-trailer and the semi-trailer crawled over the pickup and flipped onto its side. The majority of the impact is on the passenger side of the pickup as well as on the roof.

The investigation is currently ongoing and being handled by Nebraska State Patrol.
