NSP: Driver Placed Into Protective Custody After Fleeing Traffic Stop In Custer County

According to the Nebraska State Patrol, at approximately 12:45 pm Monday, January 6, a trooper stopped a Chevrolet Corvette for speeding near mile marker 252 on Highway 2 in Custer County.

During the traffic stop, the trooper became concerned about the well-being of the driver. The driver became uncooperative and fled the traffic stop in his vehicle at a high rate of speed.

The trooper lost sight of the Corvette, but discovered that the vehicle had crashed approximately two miles from the initial traffic stop. The trooper found the driver with non-life-threatening injuries and requested an ambulance.

Scanner traffic indicated that Anselmo-Merna Fire and Rescue responded to the scene. Once the subject was treated and cleared, he was placed in emergency protective custody.
