Not Much Ice, But Plenty of Snow in Parts of Nebraska
A Nebraska DOT camera shows the still-snowy intersection of Highways 81 and 121 south of Yankton.
UNDATED - Monday night didn't prove to be as icy around northeast Nebraska as originally expected, but some towns in northeast and north central Nebraska did see some fairly significant snowfall. The heaviest snow total reported Tuesday morning were farther west, with the Valentine area seeing 4-5 inches of snowfall. Four inches of snow fell as well in the town of Lynch, while Yankton, South Dakota saw around two inches. Sunny skies on Tuesday helped road conditions improve somewhat, but the Nebraska Department of Transportation reported that there were still some completely covered highways in the early afternoon, especially in Knox County. SNOWFALL TOTALS: Newport - 5" Lynch - 4" Valentine - 4" Tyndall - 3'1" Butte - 3" Bassett - 2.5" Yankton - 2" Ainsworth - 1.5"
