MADISON - The murder trial of a Norfolk man is being pushed back into late spring.
The pre-trial hearing for 49-year old Rodolfo Castaneda-Morejon was continued on Friday. Castandea-Morejon faces first degree murder and felony weapon charges related to the stabbing death of Yosvanis Velazquez-Gomez at a Norfolk apartment last August.
One of the sticking points in the case is a taped interview Castaneda-Morjeon did with Norfolk police. Castaneda-Morejon's attorney, Todd Lancaster, said in court that the interview was translated by a Norfolk police dispatcher who isn't certified by the state to be an official interpreter. That means the interview will have to be re-translated before it can be considered as evidence.
Castaneda-Morejon's trial date was pushed back to June 12th. He'll be back in court for a pre-trial hearing on May 6th. He faces the possibility of life in prison - and potentially the death penalty - if convicted.
