NORFOLK — A current Norfolk Junior High School teacher will soon be the new principal of Norfolk Catholic High School.
Norfolk Catholic School President Dr. Don Ridder announced today that Amy Wattier of Norfolk has been selected as the school’s new principal.
“I am thrilled about the spiritual, academic and overall instructional leadership opportunities she will bring to Norfolk Catholic,” Ridder said.
Wattier is currently a math teacher at Norfolk Junior High and will start at her new position on July 1st.
“I am extremely excited and humbled to become the next principal at Norfolk Catholic High School,” Wattier said. “This exciting opportunity allows me to grow in my career while strengthen my purpose on earth.”
Dr. Ridder says the hiring was a culmination of an extensive search process. A team comprised of representatives from the high school, elementary school, Sacred Heart parish and the Norfolk Catholic School Board conducted the interviews. The interview team thought Wattier was the best fit for the school.
“Amy's experiences as a 7-12 instructional coach, peer teacher, leader of the school improvement team, and her high expectations will serve our school well as we begin to address the goals of our five strategic plan,” Ridder said.
Wattier succeeds Jeff Bellar who served as principal for the last 27 years. He will continue as head football coach and also become the school’s next Activities Director.
“Now is time to be grateful for the past successes and multiple accomplishments of Norfolk Catholic and at the same time to be excited for what the future holds," Bellar said.

Wattier said she looking forward to taking the steps necessary to achieve the goals and improvements outlined in Norfolk Catholic’s strategic plan.
“I look forward to the leadership opportunity that the Holy Spirit may work through me, guide me and strengthen us all. I am thrilled to work with a talented, respected, spiritually conscientious and caring staff,” she said. “I admire the accomplishments of previous leaders and the efforts of current staff and parish leaders. Thus, I am prepared and eager to serve as I best can to inspire growth and improvement.”
