NORFOLK — An area school is the latest to deal with an alleged school threat.
Norfolk Catholic High School Principal Jeff Bellar says administration heard that a student made a threat to the school last week. He says the administrators worked with the Norfolk Police Division to investigate the claim but could not prove that the threat occurred. The accused student denied making the threat.
“We take safety very seriously and walked through the steps with the police,” Bellar said. “We want to be fair to all people and couldn’t substantiate that (the threat) happened.”
The accused student was not expelled but made a choice to change schools.
The alleged threat happened in the same week as students across the country protested gun violence in the wake of the shooting at Stoneman Douglas High School in Parkland, FL. Many Norfolk Catholic students and staff participated in the Walk Out by gathering outside and praying for the people involved in the Florida shooting.
