New Daycare Center Comes to Columbus

COLUMBUS, Neb. - Parents seeking a child care facility in Columbus have one more option. Little Steps Daycare opened its doors less than two weeks ago on Howard Blvd. and has already filled 15 of its 64 available spots. "I had in-home daycare for six years and I had always been full, had waiting lists so I decided a good time to get a little bit bigger and start a daycare center," says owner Nicole Fleming. Fleming just acquired the building in mid-August and worked hard for several weeks transforming the building into a place that serves as a daycare for infants and pre-schoolers. She says it's been clear since she started her in-home daycare that the demand for childcare is high in Columbus. "There's a huge demand. It seemed that as soon as anybody would find out they're expecting that they would start looking for childcare," says Fleming. The state licensed facility can take infants as young as six weeks to kids as old 13 years old. She currently staffs five other people and says she plans to add more people as her business grows.
