Following Monday's 1-man guilty plea and 2-man indictment from Special Prosecutor Robert Mueller, News Channel Nebraska posed a series of emailed questions to Senators Deb Fischer and Ben Sasse, as well as Congressmen Don Bacon, Jeff Fortenberry and Adrian Smith.

Only Bacon's office has responded and the response was little more than no comment.
NCN asked the following questions regarding the 12-count, 31-page indictments of President Trump's former campaign chairman Paul Manafort and fellow campaign aide Richard Gates as well as the guilty plea of Trump's former campaign foreign policy adviser George Papadoupoulous:

- Do you agree with President Trump who dismissed the indictment as having nothing to do with Manafort's role in the Trump campaign?
- Do you agree with the President's tweet which said that "Crooked Hillary and the Dems" should be the focus of any prosecution?
- According to the indictment (page 16) Manafort and Gates "lobbied multiple members of Congress and their staffs" about issues surrounding the Ukraine government. Have you or your staff been lobbied by Manafort and/or Gates?
- Are you concerned that the ongoing investigation by the special prosecutor will distract the White House and make important issues, most notably changes to the tax structure, more difficult to achieve? A spokesperson for Bacon said neither Manafort or Gates lobbied Bacon—who took office in early January—or his staff, adding, "I have nothing else at this point on the other questions."
The other four—Fischer, Fortenberry, Sasse and Smith—have not sent back a single word.
