NC Man Accused Of Sexually Assaulting Children For Nine Years

NEBRASKA CITY – A $500,000 bond has been set for a Nebraska City man accused of sexually assaulting children over a period of nine years. Troy Rakes, 51, is charged with four counts of sexual assault, involving two relatives. The Otoe County Attorney’s Office charges Rakes with first degree sexual assault of the children when they were under 12 years old and when they were over 12. Charges date back to 2008 and are as recent as September. The oldest child is now 14 and says the sexual assaults began when she was five. An arrest affidavit says the children told investigators that the sexual assaults happened nearly every time they visited Rakes’ residence. Otoe County Attorney David Partsch said prosecutors asked for a $1 million bond because of the seriousness of the crime. A preliminary hearing is scheduled on Nov. 27.  Rakes can be released with a 10 percent provision, but is ordered to have no contact with anyone under the age of 18.
