Multi-vehicle accident in construction zone brings traffic to a standstill on Highway 136

JOHNSON - A multi-vehicle accident in a construction zone two miles east of Johnson on Highway 136 brought traffic to a halt on Thursday morning. According to reports, traffic was stopped at a marked flag station on the one-lane highway when a truck and semi-trailer hit a vehicle from behind, sending it into another vehicle in the line. Both a Chevy Equinox and Ford F-150 sustained rear-end damage. The highway has been reduced to one-lane because of a paving project. Emergency crews had a difficult time reaching the scene due to traffic congestion. Construction crews and other drivers were trying to maneuver their vehicles out of the way to allow ambulances to reach the scene. The number of people involved in the accident has not been released. Road crew members did not think anyone was seriously injured. A pilot car began moving traffic again around 11:30 a.m. This is a developing story. Stay with News Channel Nebraska for the latest. Follow Hunter on Twitter: @TheBurnRadio
