Melham Medical Center Hires New CEO

BROKEN BOW--Jennie M. Melham Memorial Medical Center (JMMMMC) is pleased to announce that Veronica Schmidt has accepted the CEO position. Mike Steckler will be retiring January 15 after serving as CEO for 32 years. Schmidt brings with her 22 years of diverse healthcare experience. After getting her start in social services, she has spent her career in critical access hospitals and rural communities.  Schmidt progressed through a variety of positions in healthcare which most recently culminated in serving six years as CEO at a critical access hospital. She has a proven track record of leading and engaging in a variety of community activities. Schmidt looks forward to working with and serving those living in Custer County. Veronica Schmidt has a Bachelor of Science degree from the University of South Dakota and a Masters' Degree in Social Work and Business Administration from the University of South Dakota.
