Man Wanted for 3 Years on Accusations of Raping Child, Heads to Court in Columbus

COLUMBUS, Neb. - A Columbus man was arrested last month, nearly three years after an arrest warrant was issued for him on accusations that he raped a young girl. Records say in 2013, a girl who is now an adult, first told police in that she was raped by 34-year-old Juan Carlos Lux when she was eight or nine years old around 2007. The girl clarified her account with authorities about seven months later in June of 2014. She told police he invited into a room "for candy" and talked her into having sex with him. She told police her brother witnessed the sexual assault. Lux is charged with 1st degree sexual assault of a child. A warrant was issued for him in January of 2015. It unclear why it took so long to arrest Lux, but he was apprehended in January and made his court appearance on January 8th. He is being held on $150,000 bond. If convicted, he could go to prison for life, with a minimum of 20 years behind bars.
