LINCOLN – A man involved the O’Neill immigration scandal that led to ICE raids over the summer has pleaded guilty to conspiring to harbor illegal immigrants.
United States Attorney Joe Kelly announced 40-year old Juan Pablo Sanchez-Delgado of Mexico entered the plea in Lincoln Tuesday.
Court records say from January 2015 to July 2017 Sanchez-Delgado conspired with agricultural corporations to supply workers who were not authorized to work in the United States.
Records say Sanchez-Delgado held state and federal employment taxes and converted the money to his own use. Workers were also required to cash their paychecks at one of his businesses and pay a $50 to $75 check cashing fee.
Sanchez-Delgado made $5,648,519 through this scheme.
As part of his plea agreement, Sanchez-Delgado agreed to forfeit four homes in Las Vegas.
Conspiring to harbor aliens, when done for financial gain, is punishable by up to 10 years in prison and a fine of up to $250,000.
Sentencing is scheduled May 31st in Lincoln.
