MILBURN— Two juvenile boys were taken to the hospital following an ATV accident on Tuesday, August 4 near the Milburn Diversion Dam. According to scanner traffic and Blaine County Sheriff Tim Sierks, the two boys were riding in a Polaris RZR on private property south of the dam when they lost control and rolled the ATV at least two times, possibly ejecting one of the juveniles.
When the boys were located at approximately 3 PM, one of the juveniles was alert and walking near the scene, but the other juvenile was found unconscious. Region 26 Emergency Management dispatched Blaine County EMS and also requested assistance from Anselmo, Merna, and Sargent Fire and EMS. An AirCare helicopter was also dispatched to the scene from CHI Health Good Samaritan in Kearney.
One of the juveniles was taken by ambulance to Melham Medical Center with possible injuries to his right leg as well as a broken collar bone. The second juvenile was airlifted from the scene with unknown injuries. Speed is believed to be a factor in the crash.
Sheriff Sierks said that this accident was the fourth ATV accident in the area in the past few days and that people need to slow down.
