BEATRICE - A Gage County District Judge sentenced a man to a two-year prison term today, for possession of methamphetamine. 34-year-old Scott Enevoldsen was also given one-year prison terms on two counts of negligent child abuse, to be served concurrently. That time, is consecutive to the drug sentence. Enevoldsen will also be required to serve 12 months post-release supervision.
Chief Deputy Gage County Attorney Amanda Spracklen-Hogan said the case involved a disturbance in which Enevoldsen drove around erratically, with his wife and young children in his vehicle.

Defense Attorney Jeff Gaertig said his client did not want to wait for a trial, and was acting to protect his wife.

Enevoldsen has a pending Lancaster County case against him. He told the judge he shouldn’t have been driving a car around, following a man he said had stolen his wife’s bicycle. Enevoldsen said he did not know that his wife’s purse contained an illegal drug. He apologized to District Judge Rick Schreiner after being admonished for using profanity in the courtroom, while speaking just prior to sentencing.
But after hearing his sentence, the judge brought the defendant back into the courtroom for continuing to use profanity.

Enevoldsen called the sentence, “ridiculous”, telling the judge, “how am I supposed to take care of my children”?
The judge gave credit off the drug sentence for 98 days already spent in custody.
