Incumbent Butler County Sheriff Siebken Facing 2 Challengers for Re-Election

DAVID CITY, Neb. - The sheriff of Butler County will take on two men in his campaign for re-election this year. Sheriff Marcus Siebken, a Republican who resides in Octavia, has filed for re-election in Butler County. Currently, he is set to face Democrat Tom Dion of David City and Republican Travis Prokupek of Shelby in May's primary election The top two vote getters will then go on to the November general election ballot. Siebken was appointed sheriff in 2014, before winning the election that same year. In other Butler County election filing, three people are running for the district 7 seat on the county board. Republican Anthony Whitmore of Dwight, Democrat Irvin Cidlik of Dwight and Democrat Cyril J. Urbanek of Ulysses, have all filed to run in May. The seat is currently held by David Potter of Valparaiso, who has decided not to run. Incumbents board members David Wayne of Linwood, Kevin Slama of Rising City and Scott Steager of David City, have all filed for re-election. David City Mayor Alan Zavodny, along with city council members Thomas Kobus and Kevin Hotovy, have filed for re-election. Currently, no challengers have filed to run against any of the three men. The deadline for challengers to file is March 1st at 5 p.m.
