“In God We Trust” to be Displayed Inside Courthouse

COLUMBUS - Platte County board members approved to display the national motto, "In God We Trust" inside the Platte County courthouse. Barb Otto met with county board members to encourage supervisors to approve placing the phrase on a wall inside the courthouse. Otto says she has already visited over 40 counties, mostly through the north-central half of the state, and says every county she has visited, has approved the motion. The phrase is currently displayed on the outside of the courthouse, along the southern side of the building, and the board voted for it to be placed in a prominent place inside the courthouse. Supervisor Ronald Pfeifer offered to pay for the sign with his own personal money. Supervisor Thomas Martens abstained from the vote, citing that the phrase was already on the building.
