WAYNE - Icy conditions are being seen all over northeast Nebraska. Wayne County Emergency Manager Nic Kemnitz says branches around town are beginning to bend due to the weight of the ice that has fallen on Friday. A post by Kemnitz to the National Weather Service Omaha's Twitter page showed that about a quarter-inch of ice had accumulated on a tree in town. Wayne County is in a winter weather advisory, along with Antelope, Pierce and Thurston Counties until 1 a.m. Saturday. Meanwhile, rain and snow have mixed to create treacherous driving conditions in north central Nebraska. The Department of Roads is reporting that highways west of Orchard, all the way through Cherry County are completely covered in a snow/ice mixture. Extreme caution is urged for those driving anywhere on Friday evening.
