The Lexington Area Solid Waste Agency (LASWA) is hosting a free Household Hazardous Waste Collection event this weekend.
Friday, September 15
Ainsworth - KBR Transfer Station 1 - 2:30 p.m.
Bassett - West lot at the old City Hall 3:30 - 5 p.m.
Saturday, September 16
Broken Bow - Custer Transfer Station (on Ryno Road, west of town) 8 - 9:30 a.m.
Ansley - Community Center Parking lot 10:30 a.m. - 12 p.m.
Friday, September 29
Lexington - City Service Building 8:30 - 10 a.m.
Cozad - Recycling and Disposal Site 11 a.m. - 12 p.m.
Gothenburg - City Maintenance Facility 1:30 - 2:30 p.m.
Sutherland - Village Office West Bay 4 - 5:30 p.m.
Items Accepted: Yard and garden chemicals; pesticides, herbicides, flammables; paints and thinners, auto products, used oil, antifreeze, household products and cleaning chemicals, Mercury, and batteries; auto, lead acid and/or rechargeable, titanium, cadmium and nickel halide, florescent light bulbs, computers and monitors
Items NOT Accepted: Infectious waste and needles, radioactive waste, asbestos, oil or paint containing PCB's, high school labs, appliances, construction waste, or tires
Materials should be delivered to collection sites in sturdy, disposable containers labeled according to contents and no larger than 5 gallons or 50 pounds. The HHW program reserves the right to reject any materials.
