Have a Heart Food Bank Challenge to Benefit Local Families

BROKEN BOW–This February marks the sixth annual Have a Heart Food Bank Challenge, sponsored by Adams Land and Cattle.

The Food Bank Challenge was started by Custer County Leadership but Adams Land and Cattle has continued the event in order to provide food that will assist many local families.

Adams Land and Cattle Director or Organizational Development and Communications Liz Babcock said 28 businesses/organizations have signed up to participate and the food donations would not be possible without all of the support.

The Have a Heart Food Bank Challenge will continue from February 11 through February 22 and the community is invited to choose where they would like to drop off donations (see below a list of participating businesses/organizations).

Items collected will be donated to the Arnold, Broken Bow, Callaway, and Taylor food pantries as well as the Ansley Backpack Progam.

Babcock said this is a time of year where many food pantry shelves start to go empty, but the needs still remain.

“We do a lot during Christmas and the holidays, but this may be a period where we don’t always think to drop off donations at the food pantry,” Babcock said.

Last year 4,200 items were collected and Babcock said she hopes even more will be donated this year.

“We just feel like it’s a very worthy cause. We want to help feed the families of the Custer County and local areas. We just like to think all of the businesses and everybody who drops off donations. We know that it makes an impact,” Babcock said.
