Glenwood Municipal Utilities has issued a boil order until further notice for Glenwood and Pacific Junction.

In response to the electrical outage at its water treatment facility, the utility will be adding water to its system to assure water will continue to be available for their customers. Water should be boiled before it’s consumed, Mills County Emergency Management officials said. It is safe to use for bathing and household activities, the officials said. Water conservation is still required.

Free drinking water can be picked up at Glenwood City Hall, 5 N. Vine St., in Glenwood.

In Hamburg, city officials also declared a boil order.

“The City of Hamburg has lost its water treatment plant due to flooding,” according to Fremont County Emergency Management. “Power was shut off to the water treatment plant around 5:00 p.m. yesterday (Monday) and water began inundating the plant sometime this morning (Tuesday).”

Emergency management staff are providing bottled water to residents. The local hospital in Hamburg has been disconnected from the water treatment plant and is utilizing other sources.
