Fremont YMCA Ready for Ribbon Cutting of New Aquatic Center

FREMONT - The date for the Dillon Family Aquatics Center's ribbon cutting is fast approaching. Big Dog Radio and The Best Mix took a quick tour around the center for a preview before the event. CEO and President of the Fremont Family YMCA Jerry Rinne says by Tuesday's ribbon cutting everything will be up and running, including the steam room, splash pads, and hot tub area. He says everyone that comes by can expect to have fun and be amazed at all the new features. "We're pretty excited. The ribbon cutting is going to be on Tuesday, February 6th," said Rinne. "It's going to be from 4 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. We'll have a program starting at 4:30. We're going to be giving tours so people can see the facility, and we'll have a group of people talking a little about what's been happening. So it's a great time to come in and actually see the new Dillon Family Aquatics Center." The pool starts at 3'6" deep and ends at 12-feet deep. It even includes a handicap ramp, and they have a wheelchair that can be pushed into the water, eliminating the need for lifts. According to Rinne, from start to finish the entire project has taken just a little over a year to complete. And to answer the question on everyone's mind, filling the entire pool with water was not a simple process. "700,000 gallons of water it took," explained Rinne. "There's about 640,000 gallons in the swimming pool that we see right now. Then we had to fill up about 10,000 gallons in a surge tank when it filled up all the pipes. So about 700,000 total. It took about two days to fill up the swimming pool. And the good thing about this Myrtha pool, we don't have to drain it for three to five years." The ribbon cutting for the Dillon Family Aquatics Center will begin at 4 p.m. on Tuesday, February 6th.
