Free or Reduced-Price Lunch Eligibility Guidelines Announced

CUSTER COUNTY—The Nebraska Department of Education has announced the Income Eligibility Guidelines for for free and reduced priced meals for those unable to pay the full price of meals. The participating schools, child care, and adult care centers have received a copy of the policy which can be reviewed by anyone interested in guidelines.

The application forms are being distributed to households and schools where they need to be filled out and returned to the school or agency. According to the news release by the Nebraska Department of Education, the information provided on the application will determine eligibility and may be verified at any time during the year by school or program official. Applications may be submitted at any time during the year. Children who are members of TANF, SNAP, or FDPRI automatically qualify for free meals.

The following household size and income criteria will be used to determine eligibility. If a participant is at or below the levels shown on the Income Eligibility Graphic, they are eligible for free or reduced-price meals.
