Fire in Broken Bow Home Reported Early Tuesday Morning

BROKEN BOW–A house fire was reported to Custer County Dispatch at approximately 4:00 a.m. on Tuesday, January 28. The fire took place near South 14th Avenue and South B Street in Broken Bow.

According to Broken Bow Fire & EMS Coordinator Andy Holland, 19 Broken Bow firefighters and two EMS representatives were on the scene until approximately 7:00 a.m. with two pumper trucks, a ladder truck, rescue truck, command vehicle, and ambulance.

Holland said the fire began in the attic above the kitchen and was electrical in nature. He said two people lived in the home at the time of the fire with three other people also staying in the house. The renter of the home called 9-1-1. No injuries were reported.

Holland told KCNI/KBBN that the estimated damages are between $15,000 and $20,000. No smoke detectors were in the home according to Holland.

According to a press release from the American Red Cross, comfort kits containing personal care items were distributed to the family.
