MERNA—There is something worth celebrating no matter which direction you go this weekend. Head to Merna and “escape reality” during the annual Merna Heritage Days!

“Merna Heritage Days really is a fun activity,” John Smith of Nebraska State Bank said. “The community really pours out the support.”

The theme of this year’s event is “Escape Reality” and in an interview with KCNI/KBBN Kelly Safranek said everyone’s reality is different. “Escaping reality…escaping to the lake, back in time, or anywhere you want to be,” Craig Safranek added, and people are especially encouraged to escape to Merna for the weekend!

The theme will be carried out during the Parade down Main Street at 10 a.m. on Saturday (lineup at 9 a.m.) as well as an exciting new event–a mobile escape room.

Kelly Safranek said a trailer from Kearney will visit Merna with two escape rooms and the opportunity for teams of six to compete against one another and try to escape. Time slots are 20 minutes each and the event is free from 1-5 p.m. on Saturday. Call Hillary Williams at 308-870-4620 to learn more and reserve a spot.
