BROWNVILLE – A flood warning remains in effect for the Missouri River at Brownville, Nebraska and all along the river in southeast Nebraska, southwest Iowa and northwest Missouri until next weekend.
Chip Johnson, Auburn, shot drone footage of the water running over the top of the levee near Brownville at 11:30 a.m. Saturday. There have been no breaches near the town.
Two breaches occurred Saturday afternoon north of Peru.
As of Saturday night, the river state at Brownville was 44.8 feet, or 10.8 feet above flood stage. The river will continue to rise near 47.5 feet by Tuesday morning, then begin falling, according to the National Weather Service office in Valley.
The weather service says at 46.8 feet, the level represents a flood that has a 0.2-percent chance of being equaled or exceeded in any given year.
Do not drive cars through areas where water covers the road. The water depth may be too great to allow your vehicle to pass safely. Turn around, don’t drown!
